Bells Ring In Orvieto (Italy)

18" x 24"

Acrylic on Canvas

It was about ten until midnight in the city of Orvieto, Italy, and getting ready to go to sleep for the night.

All of a sudden, the church bells began to ring......for ten minutes non-stop.

I got my clothes and ran to the church in the sleet and marble size hail....(unusual for the time of year)

wondering what all the hub-bub was about.  Turns out it was a midnight mass to celebrate the festival of some type....

later to find out it was about the harvesting season of the white grapes to make

the famous Orvieto white wine, and the celebration of the harvest.

WOW   the painting is the bell and the sleet...look closely and you will ring.....
